22nd week

Presentation day!!

its been good seeing everyone’s hard work on to the videos seeing as we take a marketing degree not film. Some of the voice overs with annotations with annotations seemed really cool. At one point we did try to do this but found it hard to use as we hadn’t had much experienced on it. From what I learnt from the video was that we hadn’t kept much contact that we would have liked to with our client, which was a downside. My group (including myself) would blame the client, but after speaking to one of the members from the other seminar who were also taking part in the wireless group they had gone to Wigan and met him! I do feel that we tried to meet with our client straight away but he kept on asking to call or to just email instead of meeting. The first few weeks when we had set dates to call and he never did, we started to lose hope. However, he may have been really busy at this point in year and if we may have tried to keep in touch more later on in date things may have been different. Overall, the team didn’t give up and gave us a challenge to do what we knew about the project to the best of our ability for our client and I have learnt a lot from this.

21st week

Its coming to an end of the big agency and I have enjoyed some parts more than others. At the beginning of the the project I didn’t know what I would get out of it but this project has helped me out in getting interviews for placements. Recently I’ve been offered an interview for digital marketing in Bolton, it’s an exciting opportunity however I’m torn between studying in Spain or a one year placement. I know what you might think- a year placement off course! Although for this placement I would practically be my own marketing manager as I would be the only marketing person for this company (Emeli education). If I were to do a placement I would like to learn from it and I feel that this would be a big challenge to take on board. Specially after going to an assessment centre for brand marketing (Spectrum brands) just before I got an offer for the other placement. I found brand marketing interesting and more fun compared to digital marketing,
The assessment day consisted of doing fun activities such as making smoothies from one of their products such as the ninja blender and pitching one of their products on how we’d market the product along with thinking about the packaging/budget. However, I’ve not heard from this placement back yet.

I was enthralled to find 2 groups were presenting their video today. They were both fantastic which made me doubt on whether we should have done ours as a power point instead. It had already taken us a while and a lot of effort so we decided to keep it. I asked Mark if we should include the posters we made in the video in response to yes if it adds on to the festival. We also had made 2 customer personas, but our video was already 15 seconds over.

20th week

This Sunday has been very busy. Me and Emma got to the business school an hour late. We both rushed that we forgot to put our business attire on for the video (hope we don’t lose marks). I was surprised at how long it took, 5 hours later along with many re takes and laughter’s in between it still wasn’t completely finished. I underestimated how difficult filming was and how important it is to get the correct angles. As one of the members didn’t turn up it made it harder and more time consuming as we had a plan of what each of us was saying. I found it difficult to remember some of her parts on the spot compared to Emma she definitely didn’t have a memory like a gold fish.
I have used this session to ask mark a few questions about the second PDR…
Such as ‘’can I re use one of my outcomes that I said I achieved in my previous pdr’’

He told me that I could and as long as I used different examples it would be fine, this was helpful.
